This weekend has been a weekend for photos! It’s been nice. Friday I went shooting with the 150K Crew for our project. Today I went road tripping with Mike and we followed my parents and did a back road tour to St.Leon, Manitoba and back. It was nice to have a relaxing drive and just see what we came across. I like those kinds of adventures.
So here is a sort of self-portrait from Friday night. From an undisclosed location. And the other 150K Crew members can be seen in the distance.
Oh! And next Sunday there will be no blog post. I will be out of town and away from a computer. Sorry! So, ’till next time, I bid ye adieu.

As promised I have 2 more photos from that wonderful sunset rainstorm. These photos are taken 180° from the other two, with the first photo showcasing the double rainbow. The second ‘bow is pretty faint, but look closely, it’s there. The other photo for today is of a farmer’s field that was flooded out, the sun had all but dissappeared, and just left a streak of light on the wheat in the distance. I thought the sky and the golden wheat made for an odd, but great contrasting pair. Enjoy!

Another week has passed, just as busy as the last!
Each evening I decided to take photos, something either came up, I had plans or the weather was uncooperative. So tonight I finally got to taking some photos of our yard with the flood waters. I want to do more, but the light wasn’t that great (of course it clouds over the sunset just as I am taking photos).
The water has gone down some, but you can still see that the field behind our house is a lake, and you can’t tell where our pond starts or ends.

It’s been a busy week, and I forgot to post on Thursday. I apoligize!
Here are some more flood photos, though! I took these last week on the way to my parents’ place in Ste.Agathe for dinner. It still looks like this, but a bit more flooded. The river is supposed to crest in St.Adolphe this weekend. We put up the cross braces last weekend, but decided that due to lack of water in our area, we would not put up the plywood. So far it is okay. Our pond is now half our yard; not so great for the dogs, but the ducks love it.

Our structural dyke posts are up, and this weekend we will be adding the cross braces. We are slow to put it all up as it is still relatively dry here. The fields aren’t saturated (yet), so the impending threat of a flood seems odd. But none the less, we do not wish to be caught unprepared should it flood.
I was out with the dogs in the yard the other day and could’t help but see the shadows from the posts, so I grabbed my camera and snapped off a few. Enjoy.

For those that don’t know, or aren’t aware, I live in a flood zone. As of right now, we have the posts put in for our structural dyke, but are in a wait-and-see situation as far as putting up the rest of the dyke and sandbagging. It is ominously dry around here, but in 2009 the overland flooding was within a foot of the dyke, and they are predicting worse than 2009, but not as bad as 1997. It’s sort of exciting and scary all at once. It’s the first time my husband, Mike, and I have had to deal with flooding personally, now that we live outside of Winnipeg.
For the town of St.Adolphe’s dyke, they have been taking the mud to make it from the field across the road from our house. So for over a week we have been listening to machinery from 8 am to 8 pm. There is now a gigantic hole on either side of Sood Rd. It seems that they have paused the digging, but after the flood they will be back to put all the mud back. I hope to have more photos of the flood preparation for you all next week. Right now life has been more than busy. I recently started a new job for the Spring season, and we’ve been battling water from snow melt that has been leaking into our house. I aplogize for the lack of images for this post, but promise to make it up to you! :)
